Lamora Cove
Slipway within a carpark at Lamora Cove Beach.
Updated: August 20, 2025
Description
Lamora Cove sits on the South West tip of the UK, approximately halfway between Land’s End and Penzance.
The village of Lamora is around 500m inland from the cove itself, which provides a small sheltered haven for small vessels.
At the head of the cove, a small beach occupies the area at the bottom of the slipway, but gets covered at high water. The rest of the cove is filled with large boulders, so landing is hazardous.
A small breakwater shelters the slipway from the South, with the land providing shelter from the West, North and East. Most of the cove is exposed to Southerly and Easterly weather, so there is always the possibility of waves rolling around the breakwater and making the slip area hazardous.
Pay-and-display parking is available at the top of the slipway, but it is unknown whether there is a cost for vehicles to launch vessels using the slip itself.
Given the lack of landing space, a visit to Lamora Cove is only recommended for small vessels that can be dragged up the slipway by hand.
Once you get ashore, the only available facilities are within the cafe with is only open in the tourist season.
