Description

Brucehaven Pier (also called Capernaum Pier) is located at the Eastern end of the village of Limekilns, Fife. On the North Shore of the Firth of Forth, Limekilns is approximately 2.5 nautical miles upstream from the Forth Bridges.

Like many of the piers in this area, Brucehaven Pier was originally built for the export of coal in the 1770s. Later in its life, Brucehaven Pier was home to the Brucehaven Shipbuilders who built many clippers for use in trade with India in the 1800s.

Today Brucehaven Pier is used for pleasure craft as the home of Forth Cruising Club.

The club welcomes visitors to the pier, stating that the drying harbour is accessible from HW-3h to HW+2.5h. Towards the head of the pier there are a couple of drying pontoons in place during the summer months for visitors.

Facilities on the pier include water and electricity, with showers, toilets, bar, and a lounge available in the clubhouse. There are no regular hours for the bar, so it is recommended to contact the club in advance if required.

From Brucehaven Pier, a short walk along the coast to the West brings you to the center of Limekilns where there are numerous pubs and cafes available for visitors, as well as some small shops. For children, the village has some good play facilities in the local park.

Towards the East of the Pier, you will find the remains of Rosyth Kirkyard, with an interesting history that is well worth a visit.
